Avenue 5 - Season 2 ((INSTALL))
Avenue 5 is a science fiction comedy television series created by Armando Iannucci that premiered on HBO in the United States on January 19, 2020. It stars Hugh Laurie and Josh Gad in lead roles as captain and owner of a fictional interplanetary cruise ship Avenue 5. The series was produced by HBO in the United States and Sky UK in the United Kingdom. In February 2020, just days before the COVID-19 pandemic led to worldwide lockdowns, the series was renewed for a second season;[1] filming moved forward in late 2021, with a release date of October 10, 2022.[2][3] In February 2023, the series was canceled after two seasons.[4]
Avenue 5 - Season 2
On September 25, 2017, it was announced that HBO had given a pilot order to a new comedy series created by Armando Iannucci, who was also set to serve as writer and executive producer. In addition to the pilot order, the network also reportedly ordered backup scripts.[5] In April 2019, a series pickup was commissioned by HBO for nine episodes.[20] On February 13, 2020, the series was renewed for a second season,[1] which would also consist of nine episodes.[21] In October 2022, Iannucci told Entertainment Weekly that there are plans for a third season, saying that HBO was "very keen".[22] On February 10, 2023, HBO canceled the series after two seasons.[4]
In August 2018, it was announced that Hugh Laurie and Suzy Nakamura had been cast in the pilot's lead roles as Captain Ryan Clark and Iris Kimura.[7][8] On November 7, 2018, it was reported that Rebecca Front had joined the pilot's cast in another leading role as Karen Kelly.[23] In February 2019, Zach Woods, Josh Gad, Nikki Amuka-Bird and Lenora Crichlow were cast as series regulars Matt Spencer, Herman Judd, Rav Mulclair, and Billie McEvoy.[24][25][26][27] Himesh Patel was added in June as comedian on the ship Jordan Hatwal.[28] The main cast members were returned for the second season by the time of its announcement.[21]
By July 2021, the first six episodes of the second season were plotted out, leaving only the final three to be outlined "next month".[29] Iannucci added, "It's basically about people in isolation. So, we're just waiting to see what the mood might be as to how we pitch. Is it going to be bleak despair, or is it going to be very, very silly? Or maybe silly despair? I don't know. We tried to make season one as silly as possible, but it seems to have strangely become a kind of documentary about present-day conditions."[21][29]
Principal photography for the pilot took place in 2018 in London, England.[5] While filming was taking place at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden in July 2019, a fire damaged one of the show's sets.[30] Production for the second season was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In August 2021, creator Armando Iannucci confirmed on Twitter that season two would begin filming, "in a matter of days." A post by Josh Gad confirmed the start of filming in August.[31] Another post by Gad also confirmed the end of filming in late November 2021.[32]
The series premiered on January 19, 2020, on HBO.[33] In New Zealand, the series is distributed by Sky satellite television provider's SOHO2 channel and Neon streaming service.[34] The second season premiered on October 10, 2022, on HBO.[3]
Season 1 of Avenue 5 premiered in early 2020 and was quickly renewed before Covid-19 delayed season two until October 2022, potentially playing a factor into why HBO declined to move forward. The series' future became even more bleak last May when the cast members were released from their contracts and star, Laurie, signed on to be the lead in the third season of Tehran. When speaking on the series, an HBO spokesperson stated the below.
In other words, Ryan has a clear, identifiable goal: He wants to start a new life with Elena. Standing in his way is the obvious threat of death, which compounds and expands as the season progresses, but knowing that our protagonist has something worth fighting for makes each emergency meaningful and each solution (no matter how temporary) a step in the right direction; a step toward Elena.
Season 2 of Avenue 5 will feature 8 episodes. The first episode will premiere on HBO and HBO Max on Monday, October 10. After that, the season will follow a weekly release schedule, with the finale streaming on November 28.
The show scored a Season 2 order in February 2020, in the middle of its first season. The pandemic delayed production until August 2021, and the show ultimately premiered its second season in October 2022, almost three years after its initial premiere.
Good news for audiences, bad news for the ship's crew and passengers: The Avenue 5 is going to have to spend a bit more time lost in space. The show was renewed by HBO in February of 2020, after approximately half its first season had aired.
While the first season showed that there are technically ways on and off the Avenue 5 for a select few, it's safe to say that the show's "trapped together in space gimmick" means most of the cast will be returning for season 2.
The first season of HBO's sci-fi comedy Avenue 5 ended in March 2020. But there are more stories to tell on this space-cruise hurtling through the galaxy in the not-so-distant future. From Veep creator Armando Iannucci, the new series uses this far-out setting to weave a hilarious satire of social media, misinformation, and ill-equipped leaders from our own timeline. So when will Avenue 5 Season 2 air on HBO? Is it already renewed? Who will return to the cast, and who might join the show for a second season?
The space comedy premiered on HBO in January 2020, just before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The show was renewed for a second season in February 2020, but filming was significantly impacted by scheduling issues, and the sophomore season wasn't completed until November 2021.

Avenue 5 season 2 is finally here, breathing new life into the HBO sci-fi comedy that first hit screens in 2020. Starring Hugh Laurie and Josh Gad, the series is set on a luxury tourist spacecraft that was diverted off-course, turning an eight-week cruise into an eight-year journey. Avenue 5 is full of the trademark wit and humor of series creator Armando Iannucci. Iannucci is perhaps best known for creating the fantastic show Veep, which won 17 Emmy awards and was nominated for 59 over its seven-season run, but has also penned hit comedy films In the Loop and The Death of Stalin.
The second season of Avenue 5 is a testament to the resilience and professionalism of its writers, actors, and directors alike, as the show's signature set burned down in a 2019 fire at the Warner Bros. U.K. studio lot. Scripts and edits were changed to adapt to the loss which, coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic, makes it a small miracle that Avenue 5 is back on the air. Even more impressive is the fact that Avenue 5 season 2 seems to be an improvement on the series' strong first outing.
Lakeshore Records is releasing Avenue 5 - Original Series Soundtrack tomorrow, November 4th. The soundtrack features musical selections from seasons 1 and 2, offering a unique opportunity to hear the evolution of the music between seasons in one place. Be sure to check it out wherever you stream your music.
The eight-episode new season of Avenue 5 opens five months after the finale of Season 1, whose nine episodes revolve around a luxury spacecraft owned by Herman Judd (Josh Gad) getting thrown disastrously off-course. With Captain Ryan Clark (Hugh Laurie) being way over his head and his crew failing to reroute the spaceship, what was supposed to be an eight-week cruise turns into an eight-year journey.
While the freshman HBO sci-fi comedy series, the latest brainchild of Veep creator Armando Ianucci, had only just crossed the midway point of its January 19-launched nine-episode inaugural season, the premium cable channel has seen enough from it to greenlight Avenue 5 for a second season. The outer-space ensemble series, set 40 years in the future, is headlined by former House star (and Veep vet) Hugh Laurie, who plays Ryan Clark, the figurehead actor captain of the titular leisure space vessel that, due to a disaster, is forced to endure a three-year voyage home.
HBO has released a new trailer for the second season of its original series, "Avenue 5." The show was created by two-time Emmy Award-winner Armando Iannucci ("Veep," "The Death of Stalin") and stars Hugh Laurie ("House") and Josh Gad ("Beauty and the Beast"). If you haven't watched it yet, it's the story set about 40 years in the future aboard an interstellar spaceship. It's owned by clueless billionaire Herman Judd (Gad in a ponytail and some pretty wild outfits), who hired mainly attractive actors and models for his crew, so everyone would look good on the bridge and please the passengers. The ship itself is actually run by a second crew who weren't deemed pretty enough to be seen. 041b061a72
